The Three Musketeers is an adventurous movie based on a more than 150 years old novel by Alexander Dumas. The movie revolves around the Three Musketeers (Athos, Porthos and Aramis), who work for the King of France and do not have healthy relations with The Cardinal and his soldiers.
Although the move revolves around The Three Musketeers, but the lead is a teenager named D'Artagnan. This guy comes to France with the expectation to become a Musketeer and succeeds to do so the very first day. Now, starts the action packed, adventure filled and thrilling journey of these four fine men’s loyalty for King’s pride and honor.
Highlights:
1. Costumes: The costumes of the 17th century are very well designed and attract the eyes.
2. Background Score: This is very cool during the long action sequences.
Lowlights:
1. Screenplay: Lacks humor. The dialogues in the novel are very comical.
2. Art Direction\Set Decoration: This department could have done a lot better job as the lots of scenes are inside the King’s palace.
The movie is not far behind on the comedy, but yeah, it definitely lacks the ability keep people laughing most of the time. The people who enjoy the thrill, adventure and sword fights of the old times will definitely like this movie. Overall it is a good one time watch. Hence, I rate it as follows:
Entertainment rating: 3
Critics rating: 3
